おはいよ！
I am Korean by heritage but my exposure to it is limited until just recently when I started college. Since freshman year, I have made an effort to accept more of my Korean heritage: going to Korea on holidays, meeting family more often and making more Korean friends. I want to do the same with Japanese since Japan and Japanese culture always intrigued me even when I was young. There are so many similarities in both Japanese and Korean culture and I want to explore it by learning Japanese and also by visiting Japan. I plan on visiting Japan after I graduate which is a main reason why I am taking Japanese.

アレックスさん こんにちは。TAのあおきです。Yes, we do have a lot of similarities, which has also made me want to learn the Korean language. Unfortunately, no Korean courses were offered where I went to school. Hope you will enjoy learning Japanese and can communicate with people when you visit Japan!がんばってください！

ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are making the effort to connect with your heritage. I have heard that Korean and Japanese culture are similar, as well. I hope that you accomplish your goals and do get to go to Japan after you graduate. I look forward to reading more of your blog as the year goes on.

ReplyDeleteIt's really great that you've connected more with your heritage and now want to branch out and learn about other cultures.
I definitely think as well that more than many other Asian cultures, Korea and Japan have a lot of cultural similarity and share many nuances in language, a given due to the fact that they are both derived for Chinese. Naturally as a result, it's interesting and intriguing to see two words that have similar meanings or letters that share similar forms (when writing).
I look forward to reading more from you and I hope that you learn plenty of Japanese to help you when finally visit.
